USS Midway Museum

Docked along the Embarcadero, the USS Midway Museum is San Diego’s maritime treasure. It’s is the longest-serving U.S. Navy aircraft carrier of the 20th century. Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve

2,000 acres of coastal state park located in the community of La Jolla, off North Torrey Pines Road. Although it is located within San Diego city limits, it remains one of the wildest stretches of land (8 km²) on the Southern California coast. The reserve consists of a plateau with cliffs that overlook Torrey Pines State Beach, and a lagoon that is vital to migrating seabirds. Many different kinds of wildlife and flora are found within the reserve. The 8 miles of trails within the park offer an attraction for hikers and beach-goers and a small museum sits at the top, as well as the Torrey Pines Lodge, a hotel and tour station. From the cliffs or many places along the beach, it is possible to see La Jolla to the south and Del Mar to the north. During whale migration, you can see whales from the cliffs. At the southern end of the beach is a large rock that projects into the ocean, called Flat Rock.

La Jolla Cove

An unforgettable beach located in San Diego, ideal for snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking and swimming. The cove is usually swarming with snorkelers and swimmers looking to take advantage of this beautiful area. The ocean floor at La Jolla Cove is often covered with bright orange Garibaldi, the California state fish, seals, sea lions and countless other striking local sea life. With the protection of sea cliffs, this area rarely has high surf making it ideal for safe snorkeling and water play during the summer months. A white sand beach is inside the cove and although small, it’s a beautiful secluded area to lay in the sand and soak up the San Diego sun. The cove in La Jolla also has a gorgeous grass park above the sea cliffs perfect for playing Frisbee, enjoying a picnic against the backdrop of the cove and Ocean scape of La Jolla. Tip: Pick up a cup of the world’s best clam chowder from “El Pescador Fish Market” located in La Jolla and enjoy it overlooking the cliffs.

The Cave Store

The Cave Store is La Jolla’s oldest continuously running business and home of the Sunny Jim Sea Cave. Here you can descend a 145-step tunnel that provides the only land access to a sea cave in California. The tunnel and store are historical landmarks.

Gaslamp Quarter

Old Town
