Dear Guests-

Welcome to our home; we are glad to have you here and know you will have a wonderful visit. This has been our family home for over 20 years and we decided to share it with you this summer while we are away. Every detail was thoughtfully designed and updates made to keep the spirit of William Krisel our homes architect. He was at the forefront of California Modernism and we have loved living here. This home has a longstanding tradition of family memories and we are happy for you to have some of your own. May the morning sunrise over the mountains and the stunning ocean sunsets bring you joy and wonder and you take them in.

Neighborhood- This is a quiet family neighborhood and we want to have our neighbors glad to have you as a neighbor while we are away. We need you to be thoughtful about your noise levels and match the noise levels of the rest of the neighborhood. Quiet hours are from 10pm- 8am daily.

Smoking / drugs- There is no smoking or illegal drugs on the property.

Parking- There is ample on-street parking right in front of our home. Please do not leave any valuables in your car at anytime unattended. Although this is a very safe neighborhood with little crime, valuables left in a car have caused break-ins in the past.

Guests- Due to insurance policy regulations we allow only our registered guests on the property. We are happy to suggest several local spots for gathering with additional friends should that be something you desire. Only the registered guests on the listing are to be on the property, there are no exceptions to this rule.

Pool- Please leave the pool sweep in the pool at all times, removing it can damage the filter of the pool.

Only take plastic cups and plates outside and at the pool area.

Please use caution in hot weather. We are on a canyon and snakes choose to hide in shade to avoid the heat. The rattlesnake is the only one to be alert for, all the other snakes that can be around are harmless garden snakes. If you hear a rattle just step away, they will not strike unless you are too close. Please call right away 619-236-2341 and the County Animal Control will send an officer to remove it.

Pool Towels- You will find pool towels in the hall closet that are there for you use at our pool area. If you need them for the beach, please be sure to shake all the sand out at the beach, sand in the washing machine is rough on it.

Spa- The spa in the pool area is set to 102 degrees. Please return the spa lid after use.

Kitchen-

GARBAGE DISPOSAL- Ok we have one, but the plumbing is weak so I don’t put anything much down it, only the small stuff you can’t get into the trash. It will back up really easily so this really is important if you don’t want to have the plumber visit.

also...

**PLEASE NOTE DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING BESIDES Toilet Paper in Toilets.  Nothing else can be flushed even if it says "Flushable".  This can cause MAJOR Plumbing expense and FLOODING.

Murphy bed- This is easily raised during your visit if you would like to have it up during the day. There is a strap near the foot of the bed that will hold the mattress and bedding in place while closed. There is a foot bar that needs to be raised up over the mattress to close. On opening it will need to be turned back to support the end of the bed. Pillows can tuck up on the shelves. All of the closets and drawers just open by pressing them. The handles to open the bed are found on the sides of the bed just inside the closets.

Iron and Ironing Board- These can be found in the far-right closet in the back bedroom and in the master bedroom closet.

Trash- Please remove all bagged trash at the end of your stay. Trash cans are on the side yard on the way to the pool. The blue trash can is for recyclables and the black cans are for all other trash. Monday morning the cans will be picked up after 6am. The cans can be placed out on the curb on Sunday night.

Front yard fire-pit- There is a bin by the rockers with wood, guests are responsible for providing their own if it is empty.  Please be done by 10pm at the fire pit. Place water on the fire when you are done using it.

Beach Items- You will find beach chairs in the pool shed for your use.

Restaurants-

"The Cottage" in La Jolla is located in La Jolla's village and is less than 10 min from here. They have a large outdoor patio and the best homemade granola around! Great for breakfast and lunch.

"Oscar's Seafood" By far the best fish tacos to be found come from here. This is the original location and one of the best little hole in the walls around. We love the Taco Especial, it has smoked fish and avocado. Top this with the pink salsa and, You're welcome!

703 Turquoise St

San Diego, CA 92109

"Turmeric Thai Kitchen"

Just up the street and the best Thai food we have found in San Diego. Be careful on the spicy scale as 3 is pretty spicy to us and we are not lightweights with spice. They have a true Thai scale of spicy and having spent a month in Thailand a few years ago we know a bit. Everything is excellent but a delicious dish that is hard to find done well is papaya salad and they have an excellent one. I would eat anything I've tried here again, its all good.

6435 Caminito Blythefield

La Jolla, CA 92037

Salud!

2196 Logan Ave, San Diego, CA 92113

Fantastic tacos. The carnitas. and Bairria are awesome. I also can highly recommend the churro sundae. Everything is made from scratch in house. Taco Tuesday has 3 tacos for $5.

Coffee- Yes Coffee

Coffee gets is own section because we have some of the best coffee roasters in the world here in San Diego. Have some fun and perk up your trip!

"Bird Rock Coffee Roasters" Recognized as Roaster of the Year in 2012, a national once-in-a-lifetime award, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is proud to have put premiere coffee on the map in San Diego. A regular contributor to the international coffee industry, a consistent winner of multiple awards above the score of 90 from Coffee Review and with a Q-Grader certified roaster on site.

5627 La Jolla Blvd, San Diego, CA 92037

"Better Buzz" This in our go-to spot since it is the closest to the house and makes a great cup o' joe. If you like a sweet cup of coffee the "BDE- Best Drink Ever" lives up to it's name.

1909 Garnet Ave (smaller location, just drinks, pastry and beans)

3745 Mission Blvd (full restaurant, larger location right off the beach and bay)

"Café Calabria" A bit farther from home but well worth it. This is a great neighborhood to visit as well for a few hours. If the name of this coffee shop doesn't give away its vibe, take a sip of Italy by visiting this café in North Park. What's more, if your coffee run has you in the mood for a bite to eat, Café Calabria makes exceptionally delicious Neapolitan pizza from a custom–built, wood–fired oven. For the most authentic Italian experience, this café is calling your name.

3933 30th St, San Diego, CA 92104

"Café Moto" Named after the family owners' love for motorcycles, Café Moto, located on National Avenue is a great stop for a cup of coffee and a lesson in sustainability. The entire shop relies on solar power—even the massive coffee roaster relies on natural gas. The burlap coffee bags are usually donated to the San Diego Zoo for orangutans and tigers to have play toys and blankets. Café Moto does have some experience behind their belt—since 1968 they have been roasting coffee in San Diego. In addition to serving high quality coffee that is 100% organic and fair trade, the café offers demonstrations, samplings and taste tests to enhance your knowledge in the coffee world. Their company has grown to sell more products like barista tools, espresso machines and more which can be found on their website. Café Moto's slogan is "We drink all we can, the rest we sell!"

Whether you're a coffee lover or not, be sure to check out these amazing shops that are rich with San Diegan culture. It's a great way to stay connected to your community and to see first–hand the passion these shops feel for their favorite thing in the world.  Not only is the coffee unparalleled, the atmospheres of each shop have unique attributes that mesh with your lifestyle. Whether you are a fan of motorcycles or like to indulge in Bach, visiting one of these shops will make you think twice about stepping into a Starbucks ever again.

2619 National Ave, San Diego

Craft Beer- Um yeah, San Diego is the craft beer capital of America and comes with some very big accolades to back up this huge claim. To begin with collectively the San Diego Brewers Association brewers have won more medals as a group than Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom combined at the recent Great American Beer Festival. This highly touted event is the nations most celebrated event.
